Born on the coast of southern California, Cheryl got an early start drawing from magazines in grammar school.  She carried on her love of art through high school and went on to graduate with a BA in fine art from Chico State University in 1977.  In her early years, her primary instruction came from David Newcomb, Marvin Schmidt and Ken Morrow.

After college, her focus switched to graphic arts as a way to provide financial support for herself and her young son.  This creative field offered her the opportunity to perfect her feel for strong composition and the use of negative space.

Thirty-five years later she has re-entered the field of fine art, combining her strong sense of composition with her insatiable passion for color.  As was her focus during her academic studies, she continues to be drawn to the human figure as her main source of inspiration, while her landscapes, animal and still life images likewise possess the vibrant life force she claims as being the importance and drive behind her work.

Cheryl currently spends her time painting in her quaint and rustic studio in the woods of Oregon and attends weekly workshops.  When she is not painting in her studio, she spends time traveling, gathering photographic references and new life experiences to bring to life on her canvases.

Recent artists who have contributed to Cheryl’s growth as an artist include: Roni Marsh, Ilene Gienger-Stanfield, and Cynthia Britain.
